Abstract

The North American flea genus Opisodasys Jordan, 1933 (Siphonaptera: Ceratophyllidae), consists of eight recognized species assigned to three subgenera: Opisodasys Jordan, 1933 (two species); Oxypsylla Smit, 1983 (two species); and Sciuropsylla Dampf, 1942 (four species). Opisodasys (Sciuropsylla) robustus mexicanus Dampf, 1942, is synonymized with the nominate taxon, and Opisodasys (Oxypsylla) keeni nesiotus Augustson, 1941, is elevated to full species status. Keys and brief redescriptions of the subgenera and species are included. Distributions and host preferences for the species are discussed.
